Flint may not be well-known for their food scene, but there are plenty of great places in the area that do the American classics very well, and what's more "classic American" than the hamburger.

Burgers are a staple when it comes to American food stuffs, so you can basically get them everywhere. However, not many places in and around Flint and Genesee County can touch these 11 eateries when it comes to burgers.

Here they are in no specific order, we'll leave the ranking up to you:

The Torch Bar and Grill

The Torch, located in Downtown Flint's Buckham Alley, is well known for their incredible Torch Burger. Their burgers really are a labor of love, made from fresh ground sirloin, which is delivered to the bar daily, and cooked right in front of you in the kitchen behind the bar.

Starlite Diner and Coney Island

Starlite has been serving Burton since 1966 for a reason -- they have great food and great prices. Their two patty Starlite Burger may not be the flashiest burger in town, but simplicity is sort of the beauty of it. It's just a damn good cheeseburger. Period.

Clio Roadhouse

The wide variety of choices alone makes Clio Roadhouse a must for the burger lover. If you can't find something you love among their menu of 20 delicious signature burgers, you can also craft your own little masterpiece with their BYOB (build your own burger) menu.

Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers

Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers may be a mouthful to say, but it's worth it once you've had a mouthful of their burgers. Their diverse catalog of flavor profiles you won't find anywhere else, like roasted garlic onion jam, avocados, thai mayo and gouda cheese, turn a damn good burger into a gourmet affair.

Red Robin

We know. It's a chain restaurant, but there are so many things that Red Robin does right, it's hard to argue that they're not one of the best burger joints in town. They get the basic stuff right, and the accents like their campfire sauce and incredible bottomless steak fries, put them over the top.

Krystal Jo's Diner

One of the lesser-known gems in Flint, Krystal Jo's Diner has a very old school kind of feel to it. It's a small, quiet place where you can chat with the cook from the counter, while he prepares incredible homemade food, like their beloved grilled cheese burger. They were recently voted "Best Burger" by both the Burton View and WNEM TV5.

501 Bar & Grill

Downtown Flint's 501 Bar and Grill does a number of things incredibly well, one of those just happens to be burgers. Perhaps the standout among them is Jalapeno Burger, which features an unusual combination of ingredients that blend together so well, it'll make question everything you thought you knew about burgers prior to the experience.

Burger Street Grille and Cafe

Another no-nonsense place that just does burgers right. It's definitely not on everyone's radar, but next time you're near Hill and Fenton Rd, do yourself a favor and pick up a Burger Street burger. You will not be disappointed. There's a reason they've topped a few "best burger" lists.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Five Guys delivers everything you want in a burger, by literally having you tell them everything you want on it. They may not have the flash of some others on the list, but not every burger needs fireworks to hit the spot. Sometimes you just want a damn good classic bacon cheeseburger, and that's where they excel. Plus, it doesn't hurt that you can get a bag full of delicious cajun fries with your tasty burger.

Soggy Bottom Bar

Downtown Flint's Soggy Bottom Bar is widely regarded as one of the best burger joints in town... if not the best. Their arsenal boasts gems like the Breakfast Burger, topped with bacon, egg, and Michigan maple syrup, and the Spicy Southwestern, which features fresh jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle cream. With flashes of subtle brilliance like that, it's not hard to see why their burgers have such a great reputation.

Timothy's Pub

Timothy's Pub is another Flint-Town favorite when it comes to burgers. So much so, that they recently took top prize at our Buds N' Burgers event in Buckham Alley, and they were up against some real stiff competition too. Their burger menu includes everything from The Longway, their version of an olive burger named after the street on which the pub resides, to the massive Big Doug, which clocks in at a full pound... and that's just the patties!

Did We Miss A Spot?
