Flashing back to this week in 1982, John Mellencamp who was still going by the name John Cougar was hitting the album music charts with "American Fool". The success of the collection which for nine weeks was at #1 and selling over five million copies would finally give John the power to drop the stage name Cougar. The fake last name was forced on him by his management at that time.
