All 2012 Michigan State Ballot Proposals Defeated

Michigan voters have rejected all of the statewide ballot proposals that were before them yesterday.

According to WNEM, Proposal 1 was the closest race. It dealt with the Emergency Financial Manager Law, or Public Act 4. It was defeated 52 percent to 48 percent.

All of the other proposals sought to amend the state constitution.

• Proposal 2 was defeated 59 to 41 percent. It means that unions will not be guaranteed collective bargaining rights.
• Proposal 3 was defeated 63 percent to 37 percent. Had it passed it would have ordered utilities to produce at least 25 percent of electricity through renewable resources.
• Proposal 4 was defeated 58 percent to 42 percent. It means in-home health care workers will not be afforded collective bargaining rights.
• Proposal 5 was shot down 69 percent to 31 percent. This rejection means that House and Senate lawmakers will not need a two-thirds vote in order to raise taxes.
• Proposal 6 was defeated 60 percent to 40 percent. It means Michigan voters will not weigh in on the New International Trade Crossing.
