The man who helped organize one of the world's biggest and most celebrated music festivals has died.

Andrew Kerr who organized the Glastonbury Fair in 1971 and saw it grow into one of England's biggest music festival has died at 81. At the first Glastonbury, Kerr welcomed Traffic and David Bowie. Since then acts such as Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, the Who, Peter Gabriel, Rod Stewart and others have graced the Glastonbury stages.

According to the Glastonbury website, Kerr had been ill for some time. On the same day he died - October 5th - all 135,000 tickets to the 2015 festival sold out. This despite the fact no acts have been announced. Pretty fitting!
