A concerned neighbor called Kent County Animal Control last week about an illegal tiger in a backyard. From a safe distance, officers found exactly what the caller had described resting in the driveway of a vacant home. Animal Control Officer Joe Dainelis went back to his vehicle to get a ring pole and notified dispatch that police officers would be needed on scene to help manage the situation. When he got closer he realized the ‘illegal exotic animal’ was a stuffed animal. “This darned stuffed animal, its head is facing away,” he said. Officers ‘impounded’ the tiger until a good home can be found.
