‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Spoilers: What That Mid-Credits Scene Means
It’s right there in the headline, but here’s an extra warning: Major SPOILERS ahead for Thor: Ragnarok, particularly the end of the film and the mid-credits scene. If you haven’t yet had a chance to see Taika Waititi’s thoroughly rad Thor sequel, you should probably turn back now…unless you’re not particularly concerned with spoilers. To each their own.
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Japanese Trailer Features C-3PO, Phasma and More
If the most recent trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi left you craving more, then you’re in luck. Lucasfilm has debuted the official Japanese trailer for the upcoming sequel, featuring our first look at a few familiar metal faces along with some new footage — it’s not too much, but it’s just enough to make the latest trailer worth a thorough peek.
You Can Watch the Terrifying Opening Scene From ‘IT’ Right Now
IT is the biggest horror film of the year, and if you still haven’t seen Andy Muschietti’s surprisingly great adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel (doubtful, you’re smart people), then perhaps the opening scene from the movie will persuade you…or maybe it’ll just reinforce your decision to stay the heck at home in your comfy, cozy, sewer clown-free environment. Beep beep!
‘Fast and Furious 9’ Bringing Back Director Justin Lin and Jordana Brewster
Ya boy Vin Diesel is back on that breaking news beat. In a new “secret” Facebook livestream, your number one source for all things Vin Diesel revealed that two key members of the Fast and Furious fam are returning for the ninth installment in the series: Director Justin Lin (who previously helmed the fourth, fifth and sixth films) and Jordana Brewster (who hasn’t appeared in the series since Furious 7’s farewell to Paul Walker).
Quentin Tarantino Says He ‘Knew Enough to Do More’ About Harvey Weinstein
Less than a week after Quentin Tarantino released a statement through friend and actor Amber Tamblyn, the filmmaker has finally opened up about Harvey Weinstein. Tarantino’s professional relationship with the former studio executive dates back 25 years to Reservoir Dogs; over the years, it’s transcended business and become personal, as well. And yet, despite knowing about some of the sexual assault and harassment allegations, Tarantino admits that he did nothing.
‘Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond’ Trailer Reveals Jim Carrey’s Transformation Into Andy Kaufman
“For twenty years, the behind-the-scenes footage has been withheld…until now.” So reads the opening line of the official synopsis for Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond. That line is also featured in the first trailer for the upcoming Netflix Original film, which uses previously suppressed footage from the set of Man on the Moon to explore Jim Carrey’s wild transformation into his comedic idol, Andy Kaufman, for Milos Forman’s 1999 biopic.
How Carrie Fisher Took Revenge on the Studio Executive Who Sexually Harassed Her Friend
There’s a lot to miss about the late, incomparably great Carrie Fisher: Her delightful screen presence, her sharp contributions to screenwriting, her brilliant wit and unapologetic candor, and her advocacy for those suffering from mental health problems and addiction. She was, for lack of a better word, a badass. And the legend of her awesomeness lives on through those who loved her, like Heather Ross — a screenwriter and friend of Fisher’s, who recently shared an amazing story about the time she was sexually harassed by a studio executive, and the artist occasionally known as Princess General Leia exacted revenge on her behalf.
‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’ Review: Colin Farrell and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Most Disturbing Film Yet
Yorgos Lanthimos delivered one of the best films of 2016 with The Lobster, a darkly comedic and comprehensive satire of relationships and dating, featuring a wonderful performance from a schlubby Colin Farrell. If you walked away from that film thinking that maybe the director of Dogtooth was softening a bit, Lanthimos returns this year — schlubby Colin Farrell in tow — with his darkest film yet. The Killing of a Sacred Deer is a predictably uncanny, pitch-black tragicomedy that pits a narcissistic surgeon against a sociopathic teenager for what is undoubtedly one of the most disturbing cinematic experiences of the year.
‘Kingsman’ Director Matthew Vaughn Confirms ‘Man of Steel’ Sequel Talks With Warner Bros.
Back in March it was reported that Warner Bros. was eyeing Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn to helm the sequel to Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Although not officially confirmed, Vaughn seemed like a good, sensible choice; the director who (along with screenwriter Jane Goldman) revitalized the X-Men franchise with First Class could probably steer Henry Cavill’s Superman in the right direction. And that might be the case, as Vaughn says he has indeed had talks with Warner Bros. about helming Man of Steel 2.
James Franco, Seth Rogen and More Surprise High School Students by Starring in Their Short Film
Seth Rogen and longtime partner Evan Goldberg recently launched And Action!, a new high school program that offers young, aspiring filmmakers the chance to learn the business by making a short film. But it probably never occurred to 17-year-old director Eduardo Cho and his creative collaborator, 16-year-old Kimberly Carrillo, that Rogen himself would actually show up to set — and bring several of his famous friends with him to star in Cho’s short.
‘IT’ Writer Returning for ‘Part Two,’ Likely Hitting Theaters in 2019
Before the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s IT even hit theaters, early box office predictions suggested anywhere from a $60 to $70 million opening. By contrast, this year’s other big King adaptation, The Dark Tower, has grossed $47.9 million domestic in the month since its release. While we wait for the initial box office numbers to roll in, New Line is already developing a sequel to IT, but it probably won’t hit theaters until 2019.
Darren Aronofsky’s ‘mother!’ Will ‘Upset the F— Out of People,’ According to Anthony Bourdain
It’s difficult to know what to make of mother!, the latest thriller from Darren Aronofsky. The plot description sounds like a home invasion thriller, the posters pay homage to Rosemary’s Baby, and the trailers have led some to speculate that Aronofsky’s film could be anything from a vampire movie (yeah, right) to a sorta-remake of the aforementioned Roman Polanski classic. Whatever Aronofsky is up to, at least a couple of his famous friends loved it enough to share their reactions on Twitter last night following a private screening.
