Carl Coffey

Paper or plastic? Other than bagging groceries at the A&P in town or milking cows on Daddy and Mother’s dairy farm, I’ve only ever worked “on-air” in radio. After high school, I read the obituary report on the Lapeer radio station (yep, same frequency) and was a Mortarman in the 4rth Infantry Division in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Bringing free-form radio back to Detroit in creating and hosting "The Rif Rock Café” and being “Your Afternoon Coffey Break” were high-points of my radio career in the Motor City. I’m glad for the opportunity to entertain and inform listeners every morning on US 103.1, to promote the neighborhood and to be part of the community I grew up in.

Chicken, Turkey, Duck, Goose & Peafowl Exhibits Canceled At Eastern Michigan State Fair

Due to the highly pathogenic avian influenza impacting several states but not yet found in Michigan, poultry and waterfowl exhibitions have been canceled throughout the state by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2015 to prevent the comingling of birds from different locations. This includes but is not limited to shows, exhibitions, swap meets, petting zoos at fairs, game bird and waterfowl fair displays and Miracle of Life exhibits. “We’ll certainly do our best to be as inclusive with all kids that have been working toward the fair all year” says Eastern Michigan State Fair Manager, Ian Kempf.
