Carl Coffey

Paper or plastic? Other than bagging groceries at the A&P in town or milking cows on Daddy and Mother’s dairy farm, I’ve only ever worked “on-air” in radio. After high school, I read the obituary report on the Lapeer radio station (yep, same frequency) and was a Mortarman in the 4rth Infantry Division in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Bringing free-form radio back to Detroit in creating and hosting "The Rif Rock Café” and being “Your Afternoon Coffey Break” were high-points of my radio career in the Motor City. I’m glad for the opportunity to entertain and inform listeners every morning on US 103.1, to promote the neighborhood and to be part of the community I grew up in.

Donovan Appears On American TV For The First Time

September 30,1965, Donovan made his US television debut on Shindig. I don’t remember seeing Donovan on Shindig but I did have the honor of meeting him backstage at The Royal Oak Music Theater in 1986. I was really struck by what a friendly and humble guy he was considering his rock icon status.

Just weeks after announcing a six-city tour, Cat Stevens is canceling his New York performance and moving it to Philadelphia because of a requirement for paper tickets.
