Carl Coffey

Paper or plastic? Other than bagging groceries at the A&P in town or milking cows on Daddy and Mother’s dairy farm, I’ve only ever worked “on-air” in radio. After high school, I read the obituary report on the Lapeer radio station (yep, same frequency) and was a Mortarman in the 4rth Infantry Division in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Bringing free-form radio back to Detroit in creating and hosting "The Rif Rock Café” and being “Your Afternoon Coffey Break” were high-points of my radio career in the Motor City. I’m glad for the opportunity to entertain and inform listeners every morning on US 103.1, to promote the neighborhood and to be part of the community I grew up in.

Bob Dylan Throws People Off in Pre-Grammys Speech

Rather than performing, Bob Dylan appeared on stage with a pile of loose papers saying “I’m going to read some of this,” in a 30-minute acceptance speech for the MusiCares 2015 Person Of The Year a charity affiliated with the Grammys. His commentary ranged from “Very few rock ‘n’ roll bands today play with rhythm; they don’t know what it is” to the singing of the national anthem (“You take a one-syllable word and make it last for 15 minutes?”).
