When you base jump from 1,000 feet, what could possibly go wrong?  A 25-year-old base jumper in Italy learned the hard way... literally.  He fell a staggering one-thousand feet and survived after his parachute got twisted, and he hit the ground at 40 miles an hour. He posted the footage from his helmet cam.

He landed next to some sort of metal stand that had a big row of spikes on top of it. And one of them brushed his face as he went by, then ripped his helmet off.  But somehow, he only suffered minor injuries, and was in and out of the hospital within a few hours.

Watch his incredible death-defying leap below.  He jumps at :07 and slams into the ground at :29.
