John Mellencamp will be performing songs made popular by other musicians on his new album, "Other People's Stuff" scheduled to be released on November 16th. Doing what are called cover songs has proved to be very successful for example Rod Stewart with his series (five albums) of covers of pop standards that have sold millions.

Our very own Michigander Bob Seger did a cover album long before it became an in thing. The year was 1972, the collection was called Smokin' O.P.'s. Bob sings "other people's stuff" a take off of smoking other people's cigarettes. There's also a couple of his own tunes including his classic "Heavy Music" and a killer rendition of Chuck Berry's "Let it Rock."
