The "Mark II" line up of Deep Purple featuring Ian Gillan was the most popular line up during this band's long haul; think 'Smoke on the Water' , 'Highway Star' and 'Woman From Tokyo'.  However, when future Snake man David Coverdale came in around 1974, a whole new brand of Deep Purple was born.  "Mark III" was harder and bluesier, not as commercial, and fans loved it.  Why then, nothing from those days remain on the radio is a mystery.  We can fix that on today's Vault by spinning 'Burn' and giving you a high octane warning, here, in advance.  Ha!  Out of town?  Listen live on-line.
