Freezing nights and warm days don’t just mean winter’s almost gone: they get maple tree sap running. I tried it once. Did you know Michigan ranks fifth in maple syrup production or that it takes 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup? Steam is probably billowing out of several sugar shacks in the county right now including my neighbors the Arnolds, the Nelsons and the Steckleys.

One of my favorite food items that appears in the produce section this time of year are those sweet little orange delights Clementines.You’ll see these juicy goodies being sold either in net bags or sometimes in small wooden boxes. My most recent purchase the other day was a bag imported from Spain and these babies were perfect.
A unique fundraiser is going to happen January 15th at Boulder Pointe Golf Club in Oxford to raise money to fund a new grant offered by the Young Musicians Community and the band 3rd Degree Burns of Lapeer.
