The Lapeer County Tea Party will be holding a Candidate Forum for all candidates running for 82nd District State Represenative at the Lapeer County Sportsman's Club tomorrow (10/2) from 7 PM – 10 PM. A vacancy was created when former Representative Todd Courser resigned on September 11. Candidates from both parties have been invited and The Honorable Judge Nick Holowka will be the Moderator.
You’re invited to a Euchre Tournament at the American Legion Hall on Saturday (10/3). Ten games of eight hands will be played. Registration begins at 6 PM and game time is 7 PM. The fun will include prizes, a silent auction, cash bar and 50/50 raffle. Sandwiches, pretzels and desserts will be provided.
Imlay City Ford is partnering with Dryden High School to conduct a test-drive fundraising event today (9/25). For every valid test-drive completed, Ford Motor Company will donate $20. Representatives from the dealership will be at the school with Ford vehicles before the varsity football game from 4 PM - 7 PM.
An outdoor celebration of beer, food and music will take place the weekend after next (9/26) on Court Street between Nepessing and Park. Festivities get underway at 6:30 PM with Robert Schwalbe, a strolling button box musician playing traditional Bavarian music and continue with the Polish Muslims taking the stage at 7:30 PM.
Get out to Seven Ponds this weekend (9/19, 9/20) for Heritage Harvest Days where you’ll find anything from a blacksmith exhibit, a sheep shearing demonstration and a bread and jam table to a Children’s Tent with old-fashioned crafts and games, horse drawn prairie wagon rides and tractors, antique cars and engines.
You’re invited to ‘Expressive Emotions,’ an art show sponsored by Lapeer County Community Mental Health, this Friday (9/11) from 5 PM – 7 PM at Gallery 194. The reception will include a presentation of a mural by local artists who use CMH services to local Vietnam War veterans.
The evening sky will be filled with colorful hot air balloons today (8/28) and tomorrow (8/29) but you’ll also get a chance to enjoy anything from a horse and trolley ride, a candy drop and an inflatable obstacle course to a helicopter ride, an ice cream sundae and fireworks. As many as twenty pilots will bring their balloons to this one-of-a-kind festival
Mike Kelley—he was injured at the Imlay City Fair in the demolition derby on August 1st—he was badly burned when his radiator exploded towards the interior of the car instead of out. He is currently in Hurley Medical Burn Center in Flint-they believe he will be there for a few months
Lapeer County United Way Community Colors 5k is a fun filled vibrantly colored race through the beautiful trails of Lapeer’s Rowden Park. It’s not a timed race but a fun run. Walkers, runners, rollers and strollers are all welcome. United Way of Lapeer promotes a healthy lifestyle by urging us all to Get Out,Get Active and Live United.
The Veterans Summit will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on August 26 at the Michigan Army National Guard Armory in Lapeer. A variety of resources will be on hand to explain to benefits that veterans are entitled to, ranging from education to employment to health and housing.
