Jake Long Donates $1 Million To Special Kids Camp In Pinckney

He was a Lapeer native and a graduate of Lapeer East High School. Now he plays in the NFL, but he still hasn't forgotten the kids. Jake Long announced at a fundraiser June 8th that he was making the donation for kids with serious or life-threatening medical issues.

Fewer Schools, Less Students = Less Teachers In Lapeer Layoffs

The Lapeer County School Board of Education approved 38 layoffs for district teachers and para-professionals. The two Lapeer High Schools, East and West combining, and a dropping enrollment caused the LCS to act. The layoff list is comprised of 22 teachers and at least 16 par-professionals.

M-24 Reconstruction Pushes Back Phase Two to 2015

We've been dealing with the M-24 construction and it's detours and delays. Now, it appears that Phase II of the project is going to wait until next year. The project was initially delayed this spring because of the deep frost that kept the ground frozen nearly a month longer than expected, so it doesn't appear that there will be time to get the second phase in this summer.
