It was 23 years ago that we learned the sad news that Stevie Ray Vaughan had been killed in a helicopter crash after a Wisconsin concert performance he did with Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy. Four others along with Stevie aboard the helicopter lost their lives.

The first rock and roll power trio Cream (Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker) started their first tour today back in 1966, with a concert in Manchester, England. The band had their first public performance at the Windsor Festival prior to hitting the road.
George Harrison was in the recording studio today in 1968, working on his song “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” just George and his guitar. The electrified version of the tune with help of Georges close friend Eric Clapton would appear on The White album.
July 3rd a dark day in Rock and Roll. In 1969, one of the original Rolling Stones Brian Jones died in his swimming pool he was 27 years old. Alcohol and barbiturates were found in his blood. His death was declared death by accident.
