Christian Bale is not exactly known for being the warmest and fuzziest of stars in Hollywood, but he’s sure doing his best to change that image.

'The Dark Knight Rises’ star called up a young Batman fan battling leukemia the other day and talked about – what else? – Batman.

Zach Guillot, 8, loves Batman, so Bale chatted him up. When Zach told Bale that he thinks he really is the Caped Crusader and even has his own homemade Batmobile, Bale responded by saying:

The whole point of the movie is anybody can be Batman. Anybody can be as strong as that and help people and put good out into the world."

Bale, who is known for his now-legendary tirade while on the set of ‘Terminator Salvation,’ seems to have a real soft side for kids. Last year, he footed the bill for a four-year-old boy with leukemia to meet him at Disneyland and this past summer he showed up in a hospital to see several people shot in the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting. At this rate, Bale might be singing 'Newsies' tunes to fans on the street. Hey, we can dream...
