The outrageously priced drinks came from a 224 year old bottle of Cognac, Clos de Griffier Viex, dating back to 1778. The bottle was estimated to be worth $77,615. I say "was" because the customer asked to see the bottle of Cognac, and when the bartender presented it, the gentleman stood up unexpectedly, sending the bottle crashing to the floor! The bottle was not insured, but the clumsy customer was forgiven. Seems that he is a regular patron of the club. I hope that he left a large gratuity!
