"Kulture Shock" an exploration of automotive inspiration and lowbrow art is now open at Gallery 194 in downtown Lapeer. The show will run through Saturday April 27th and the public will be able to meet and engage with the artists and other “Kustom Kulture” car enthusiasts at a free reception Friday, April 12th from 6:00pm to 8pm.

"Kulture Shock" is a show unlike any others that have been seen at Gallery 194 including the display of two custom cars parked inside the gallery.

The idea behind the show is to not only showcase some very cool cars but to also explore the culture behind the lowbrow art. Lowbrow is a movement – slowly gaining momentum- that doesn’t necessarily care if The Art World recognizes it as such. The roots of lowbrow go back decades to Southern California hotrods (“Kustom Kars”) and surf culture.

Gallery 194 is located at the corner of Court and West Nepessing Streets in downtown Lapeer next to the historic Pix Theater. Gallery 194 is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 6pm and admission is always free and open to the public.
