Ian Gillan, Roger Glover and Ian Paice, the 3 holdovers from the classic "Mark II" Deep Purple line up that did Machine Head and other popular early 70's albums are still at it.  I've seen some footage from a recent show and it was surprisingly quite good, better than I expected, knowing the band these days doesn't really care about good shows, good records and lots of success.  Glover recently said they simply want to "have fun".

Paice has been in the news lately slamming bands that opt out of middle east tours, thinking politics and religion shouldn't get in the way.  They are in Israel right now but will soon head this way.  Our chance to see the current Purple comes Friday night, June 17th at the Fox Theater in Detroit.
