Remember, the cooler temperatures and foggy mornings mean more deer are out running the streets and potentially could be a hazard in your commute.

According to Mlive, our state had a total of 47,007 vehicle collisions with deer last year. Most of these accidents occurred during the months of October, November, and December also within the hours of dawn and dusk on county roads. It seems, that the most crash heavy month is October, closely followed by December.

Michigan Deer Crash Coalition has put together the numbers of crashes involving deer for each county across the state during 2015. Here are a few area statistics:

  • Genesee County = 1037
  • Lapeer County = 1230
  • Oakland County = 1873
  • Shiawassee County = 784
  • Saginaw County = 882
