Denzel Valentine capped off his amazing career at Michigan State by winning the 2016 College Basketball Player of the Year award.

It was a very close vote between Valentine and Buddy Hield, but in the end Denzel came out with the hardware.

The sting of being upset in the NCAA Tournament is definitely still there, but the award brought a genuine smile to Denzel's face.

Despite missing a few games in the middle of the season, Denzel still put up very impressive numbers.  He averaged 19.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.6 assists, while leading the Spartans.

He can put this Player of the Year trophy next to his Big 10 Player of the Year trophy.
