Did Todd Courser call himself a child molester to garner sympathy and votes in the primary election? Flyers with the question “Do you think Todd Courser is a child molester?” appeared downtown and official-looking warnings were placed on Republican opponents’ campaign signs saying they were illegally placed in homeowners’ yards, according to the Detroit Free Press. “I tried to stay out of the mud-slinging that happened in that campaign” said Sharna Smith, Arcadia Township clerk who finished fourth in the primary. “After that flyer was put on the other candidates’ signs, a couple of my signs were burned. Who does them, nobody knows for sure. But that was the talk.” Jacob Hunsanger finishing third in the race said “We all had those warnings on our campaign signs except for him.” “‘Sleazy’ doesn’t even begin to describe it” he said.
