It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood and perfect weather to enjoy National Ice Cream Soda Day.

The ice cream soda came on the scene back in 1874 at Philadelphia's sesquicentennial celebration. Robert Green added vanilla ice cream to the soda he sold after he ran out of ice and quickly discovered a yummy way to keep the beverage cold. Mr. Green was so proud of his invention that he had the phrase “Originator of the Ice Cream Soda” engraved on his tombstone.

Grab the soda pop and some ice cream. Enjoy.
