The family of AC/DC's Malcolm Young has confirmed the illness the legendary guitarist is suffering from.

In a statement to People magazine, Young's family confirmed reports of dementia saying "Malcolm is suffering from dementia and the family thanks you for respecting your privacy." It was in April that the band confirmed Malcolm was battling something and would be taking a break as they recorded their new album. Last week, AC/DC announced their new album, Rock or Bust, while also revealing one of the band's founding members would not be returning. The Young brothers' nephew Stevie, who played with the band in the late 80s, played on the new album and will accompany them on a world tour to support it.

Here's wishing the Young family the best during this difficult time!
