Richard Kiel, the man who played Jaws in two James Bond movies and also had Michigan ties, passed away on Wednesday at 74.

Kiel, who was born in Detroit, was just two days from celebrating his 75th birthday. There were reports he had been in the hospital with a broken leg, but it's not yet known if that had anything to do with his death.

Kiel - who stood 7'2" - was best known for his Bond roles in 'The Spy Who Loved Me' and 'Moonraker' but also starred in the original 'The Longest Yard' with Burt Reynolds. He also appeared in a number if television shows including 'Gilligan's Island,' 'I Dream of Jeannie,' 'Twilight Zone' and more.

Kiel might be more recently known for his role opposite Adam Sandler in 'Happy  Gilmore' in which he played Sandler's former boss and he also lent his voice to the character Vlad in the 2010 animated film 'Tangled.'
