Firefighters from all over Michigan are heading to Lapeer this weekend for the Michigan State Firemen’s Association’s 137th Annual Conference. The Lapeer County Fire Association is hosting the gathering of an estimated 400 firefighters.

Enjoy a parade at 6:30 p.m. Friday, featuring fire trucks, antique and new. Enjoy the photographic displays in downtown storefronts prepared by local fire departments as well as others from around the state.

Starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, firefighters will compete in a tournament, with water ball, bucket brigade, a truck pull, five firefighters use a rope to pull a fire truck down the road, and the ladder climb. There will also be simulators, including a fire truck-driving simulator.

The program closes on Sunday with a memorial service at the PIX Theatre to honor firefighters that have died in the past year.
