Fleetwood Mac closed out 2013 with two shows at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Dec. 30 and Dec. 31. The concerts marked the first performances of the band since bassist John McVie was diagnosed with cancer, which canceled its fall tour of Australia.

McVie was introduced last by Mick Fleetwood, who called him “the backbone of Fleetwood Mac” and his “dearest friend.” During the ovation, a rose landed at McVie’s feet, which he picked up, sniffed and briefly put in his teeth. You can watch the video below.

The concert began with three songs from ‘Rumours’: ‘Second Hand News,’ ‘The Chain’ and ‘Dreams.’ In fact, the band played all seven songs from ‘Rumours’ on which Christine McVie does not sing lead, and encored with another song from the 'Rumours' sessions, ‘Silver Springs,’ the B-side to ‘Go Your Own Way.’

But Fleetwood Mac didn’t exclusively focus on vintage material. They performed two songs from the EP they released last year, ‘Sad Angel’ and ‘Without You,’ and closed out the evening with ’Say Goodbye’ from 2003’s ‘Say You Will.

Fleetwood Mac have one more concert scheduled, a private show also in Las Vegas, on Jan. 8.
