The Marguerite deAngeli Branch of the Lapeer District Library is offering a free presentation that will teach women self-defense on Saturday, June 30, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Steve Wessell, certified expert in American karate with thirty years of martial arts experience will instruct women, ages 16 and older. “I intend to inspire the participants with the confidence that they can defend themselves and provide them with a path to follow to gain more information,” states Wessell. This interactive session will include lots of class participation and Wessell suggests participants wear comfortable clothing so they can move easily.

This program is part of the “Own the Night” summer reading theme that's at all branches of the Lapeer District Library.
