On this day in rock history John Lennon recorded lead vocals for Good Morning Good Morning in a recording session for the Sargent Pepper's album at Abbey Road. John had a TV in every room and got the idea for the tune from a commercial for Kellogg’s Corn Flakes (“Good morning, good morning, The best to you each morning, Sunshine breakfast, Kellog’s Corn Flakes, Crisp and full of fun”). It was also his idea to have the song end with animal noises and a chicken clucking transform into the guitar on the next track, Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise).

Join me weekday mornings at 6:30 for The Beatles Breakfast Jam.
