On Wednesday, Governor Rick Snyder announced the creation of an independent task force that will be charged with reviewing actions regarding water use and testing in Flint, and offer recommendations for future guidelines to protect the health and safety of all state residents.

In a news release Gov. Snyder said transitioning back to the Detroit Water and Sewerage Dept./Great Lakes water Authority is a good first step in protecting public health in Flint, but it's not the last step. Task force members will be a mix of experts in public health and medicine and environmental protection from both sides of the aisle.

Those named include Ken Sikkema of Public Sector Consultants, Chris Kolb of the Michigan Environmental Council. Others serving include Dr. Matthew Davis of the University of Michigan Health System, Eric Rothstein of the Galardi Rothstein Group and Dr. Lawrence Reynolds of Mott's children's Health center in Flint. Snyder has said he and others in the administration will fully cooperate with task force members.

Snyder added that reconnecting with the water authority is a critcal step to resolving the water quality issues.
