Can I buy tickets to Hail, Caesar! yet? Can I preorder the Blu-ray? Too early to add it to my top ten list of the year?

Forgive me, I’m just a little excited. It’s almost time for a new Coen brothers movie and it looks incredible.

First, just dig that cast: Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, and Channing Tatum. Then you’ve got to love the setting: Classic Hollywood, where the Coens’ set one of their best movies, Barton Fink. (Also, am I nuts, or is Jonah Hill cosplaying as Barton Fink in this trailer?) Plus, it’s got that great Coens comedy vibe, with kidnappings and broad accents and sarcastic wisecracks and George Clooney as a movie star who can’t remember his lines. The whole film looks amazing, with longtime Coens cinematographer Roger Deakins recreating the style and feel of old Hollywood musicals and ancient epics.

The only thing that makes me nervous is the punctuation; a comma and an exclamation point in a two-word title? It’s a copy editor’s nightmare. Otherwise, I can’t figure out why this is opening in February instead of at the end of the year for awards consideration. Granted, comedies tend to fare poorly at the Oscars, but when you factor in that incredible cast and that subject matter (Hollywood looooooves a movie about Hollywood), it seems like a slam dunk.

Whenever this movie comes out, it’s basically my most anticipated film of that year. Is it too soon to get the title tattooed across my chest? Just checking Hail, Caesar! opens in theaters on February 5, 2016.
