Happy National Peanut Butter Day

flickr.com

Did you know in the U.S.A you’ll find a jar of peanut butter in 9 out of 10 homes.  Also each year the average Americans consumes at least six pounds of peanut products. When it comes to a preference children and women enjoy creamy peanut butter, chunky peanut butter is the favorite for men.

The first patented peanut butter-making machine was made by Dr. Ambrose Straub of St. Louis in 1903. The doctor created peanut butter as a remedy for bad teeth. One more fact about peanut butter, it takes 550 peanuts to make a 12 ounce jar of peanut butter.

Now go enjoy some peanut butter.  I’ll have some on toast.
