Make sure to get a bag of non-perishable food ready for your letter carrier this Saturday(5/10). It’s the "22nd Annual National Association of Letter Carriers’ Food Drive" to help provide assistance to Americans who are struggling with hunger. Every year on the second Saturday in May letter carriers collect non-perishable food donations to help feed the nation's hungry. Donations can be left by your mailbox for pickup or dropped off at your neighborhood post office.

The food drive is the largest single collection event that contributes food to the local food pantries and soup kitchens. Donations sought include non-perishable foods also cleaning supplies, and paper products. The food and other items will be distributed to needy area families through the Lapeer Interfaith Community Association.
