Generations of rock stars collide on a new song composed for HBO’s hit vampire drama, ‘True Blood.’ The episode that will debut July 8 will feature Iggy Pop and Bethany Cosentno of indie band Best Coast duetting on ‘Let’s Boot and Rally.’

The song was written specifically for ‘True Blood’ by the show’s music supervisor, KCRW DJ Gary Calamar, and James Combs. Perhaps unsurprisingly to anybody who has ever watched ‘True Blood,’ Iggy Pop had been looking to get involved with the drama. “Iggy Pop, or should I say Iggy’s people, had reached out to me saying he was a ‘True Blood’ fan and if any opportunities come up, to please keep Iggy in mind,” Calamar wrote. “We sent Iggy the demo of [the song]. He loved it and said sign me up.”

Cosentino, who released her second Best Coast album, ‘The Only Place‘ in May, “dug the song the most and jumped at the chance to sing with Mr. Pop,” according to Calamar.

This is not the first cross-generational duet to be featured on ‘True Blood.’ For the premiere of the fourth season, Nick Cave and Neko Case duetted on a cover of the Zombies’ classic, ‘She’s Not There.’
