Jeremy Talks To Comedian/TV Star Walt Willey [VIDEOS]
I remember staying home from school because I was sick, and I wanted to watch my favorite cartoon "Inspector Gadget" on our color TV downstairs. My mom said that she was going to watch "All My Children" downstairs, but I could watch 'Gadget' upstairs on the black & white TV in their bedroom. After throwing a tantrum, my mom punished me by making me watch "All My Children" with her.
I pouted and complained the entire time, but by the end of it thought to myself, "Gosh, I hope I'm sick tomorrow so I can see if Erica Kane will finally marry Jackson Montgomery!" I saw a few episodes here and there, but was never a die-hard fan like my mom and my sister, but because it was always on, I had a pretty good idea as to what was going on in Pine Valley, the faux city where AMC took place.
Fast forward to 1999 when I worked at our sister station, KISS-FM. I did weekly interviews with comedians who made stops at Evansville's Funnybone Comedy Club. That was when I first met Jackson Montgomery himself, Mr. Walt Willey. We hit it off immediately. In fact, Walt recruited me to be his transportation around town that weekend, and every weekend that he returned to 'The 'Ville!'
Jackson Montgomery was a great character, but nothing like the man who played the role. Walt Willey has been doing stand-up comedy since 1990, and he is bringing his show to Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle in Royal Oak this Sunday with a meet & greet at 6:00pm, and the show at 7:30pm.
I asked Walt if he'd like to talk on the air, and without hesitation agreed. He also put together a Top Ten list of the reasons you need to see Walt Willey this weekend.
Check out my interview with Walt from Cars 108 as well as his Top Ten List in the video below. You'll also hear an older interviews from my days at KISS-FM. In fact, you'll see where "The Five O'Clock Rush" and "Cars Karaoke" came from! You can also check out Walt Willey's website here. I've also thrown in a few of his stand up bits for your enjoyment, but remember... this is NOT Jackson Montgomery! Walt is hilarious, but racy! You've been warned!! :)
