With three kids in school all having Valentine's Day parties this week, here's a quick and easy snack to make that the kids will love!  You'll need pretzel rods, melting chocolate, parchment paper, and your choice of squeezable icing or frosting.

Melt the chocolate in a measuring cup for about a minute on high power in the microwave.  Keep heating as needed (in 10 second increments) until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth!  Place a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet.

Dip one end of the pretzel rod into the measuring cup, and tip it so that the chocolate covers as much of the pretzel as possible.  Then pull the pretzel out by lightly dragging it along the spout of the cup to remove excess chocolate.  Place the pretzels on the parchment at least a half in apart, so they don't stick together.  Allow the chocolate to harden.  Place the tray in the freezer to speed up the process.

Once the chocolate has hardened, use icing or frosting to decorate the rods.  For Valentine's Day use red, white, or both.  You can use other colors for other holidays.  We first made these at Halloween using orange icing.  Then use whatever melted chocolate you have left to make some other cool candies.  I made a few chocolate communicator pins from 'Star Trek: The Next Generation!"
