1972 was a rough time for Joe Cocker, just beginning his legendary downward slide into substance abuse, when producers nearly had to prop him up at the mic.  He did manage to get out some very good tunes though, and we're getting into one today, unusually deep.  I think of the old Blue Oyster Cult lyric "time to play B-sides" ... as this is exactly that.  You Cocker fans will know this one, especially if you had the "High Time We Went" 45 like I did.  You probably wore out both sides, like I did!  "Black Eyed Blues" was every bit as good as the big hit A side, has a great hypnotic blues rock groove and will get rolled today around 5:20.  Let's see if it still stands up, even if Joe couldn't in those days.
