Where can you go this weekend and eat homemade bean soup, hot fried cakes and hog kettle popcorn, drink fresh lemonade and pressed apple cider, hear an old gospel hymn sing-a-long and “hit-and-miss” engines and see a threshing demonstration and an apron fashion show? The answer is the Thumb Octagon Barn 19th Annual Fall Family Days.

The celebration starts tonight with a fish fry and continues through Sunday (September 5 – 7). Don’t let the kids miss out on pumping water, washing clothes on a scrub board and hanging them on a clothes line or walking on wooden stilts in the Children’s Activity Tent. The Thumb Octagon Barn & Agricultural Museum is located north of Lapeer at 6948 Ritchie Road in Gagetown. For more information, call 989-665-0081 or visit thumboctagonbarn.org.
