Keith Richards will return for his third appearance in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie series as Captain Jack Sparrow's father. And this time the Rolling Stones guitarist plays a pivotal role in the film's plot.

According to the Daily MailJohnny Depp once again will star as Sparrow. Filming will begin in October 2014, with an opening date sometime the following year.

As the fifth movie in the series, 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' focuses on the search for the mysterious Trident, which Richards' character, Teague, apparently knows something about. Meanwhile, a new villain, Captain Brand (reportedly to be played by two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz) is also looking for the Trident, as well as revenge on Sparrow for an incident involving his brother.

Richards appeared in 2007's 'At World's End' and 2011's 'On Stranger Tides,' after Depp admitted that his original portrayal of the flamboyant Sparrow in 2003's 'The Curse of the Black Pearl' was based in part on the guitarist. "It’s fun and a change," Richards has said about his acting side gig. "A bizarre other world."
