The Lapeer Kiwanis Club recently elected a new president. The hope for revitalization will soon rest on the shoulders of newly elected 28 year-old Emily Barber. She will be taking over for President Jeff Clemens in October and hopes to bring some new vitality and fresh faces into the club.Barber joined the Kiwanis Club three years ago and has been active in events like the Kiwanis Kapers Variety Show, the annual golf fundraiser, volunteer efforts at the local soup kitchens, Relay for Life, and the Key Club at Lapeer East.

Along with her work with Kiwanis Club, she also is a helping hand on the Barber family dairy farm near Columbiaville.She is a graduate of Lapeer West High School and has a bachelor's degree from Northwood University.
