Do you have a weather radio in your home? Never thought you needed one? Well, the Lapeer County Office of Emergency Management is hoping you will reconsider.

Claiming that a weather radio should be as common in your home as a smoke detector, Mary Piorunek, the director of the Lapeer County Office of Emergency Management, urges you to reconsider this early warning device. Weather radios range from $35 on up and can provide the first warning for tornado's and severe storms.

Some folks think the sirens for tornado's are enough, but unless the siren comes in loud and clear in your home, you are at risk for night time threats. With the violent nature of storms recently, it might be a great investment to protect your family.
