Good news for motorists that travel on Lapeer Road! MDOT says construction is expected to wrap up this week. More here!

The Michigan Department of Transportation says the first year of a two-year reconstuction project in Lapeer is wrapping up. The second phase of the M-24 reconstruction project was from Demille Road to I-69. Keith Brown, from the MDOT Davison Transportation Service Center said "weather permitting, we are pushing to be done" by the end of this week.

Overall, the $17.5 million project includes reconstruction 2 miles of M-24 from south of I-69 to Nepessing Street in the City of Lapeer and Lapeer Township. Work began in late April and the entire project is expected to be completed next September after reconstruction from Demille Road to Nepessing Street and the Farmers Creek Bridge is replaced. Traffic for that work is expected to be detoured from the beginning of July through the end of August.
