A unanimous decision to send the following letter to Representative Todd Courser was reached last week at a meeting of the Lapeer County Board of Commissioners. The board voted to send the letter without the first paragraph. Todd Courser may not have any plans to resign but commissioners asked him to do just that.

The letter read:

“Todd, normally when addressing an elected representative, this letter would be appropriately addressed to you as the honorable State Representative Todd Courser. Unfortunately, Lapeer County Board of Commissioners and the people of Lapeer County no longer feel that you deserve that title.

In November 2014 you were elected to the State House of Representatives for the 82nd District by the people of Lapeer County. You took office in January 2015 and within the first eight months in office you’ve embarrassed yourself, your family and the people of Lapeer County.

Not only are you an embarrassment, you have become totally ineffective as the people’s representative in the Michigan House of Representatives. At this time, Lapeer County Board of Commissioners and the people of Lapeer County are asking you to resign your house seat immediately and spare all of us any more humiliation.”

A report detailing allegations against state Representatives Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat will be made public Monday (8/31) in Lansing.
