This week in 1963, Kellogg Pop Tarts hit the grocery store shelves. Post Cereal Company came up with the idea but due to a marketing error Kellogg grabbed the idea and ran with it. In the beginning there were only four flavors of Pop-Tarts: strawberry, blueberry, apple currant, and cinnamon. In 1967, Kellogg’s introduced Frosted Pop Tarts and the world has never been the same.

Today it’s hard to keep up with the latest flavor. According to poptarts.com one of the limited editions now available just in time for Thanksgiving is Pumpkin Pie. By the way here in the U.S.A. we eat about 2 billion Pop Tarts every year.

Time to get a box of Pop Tarts and a carton of milk and enjoy.
