The recording of 'Sympathy for the Devil' began at London's Olympic Sound Studios on June 4, 1968 and continued into the next few days. The song was written with the line "I shouted out 'Who killed Kennedy?'" After Robert Kennedy's death on June 6, 1968, the line was changed to "I shouted out 'Who killed the Kennedys?'" Only two takes of 'Sympathy' were recorded: the first one "a disaster" and the second one "perfect" according to Keith Richards.
