A Genesee County resident with a lengthy criminal record is behind bars again after shooting a man inside an Elba Township home over the weekend. Lapeer County Sheriff's Deputies were on the scene and able to apprehend Deonte McCoy within ten minutes of the 911 call. McCoy is charged with attempted murder, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of narcotics and habitual offender fourth offense according to Lapeer County Sheriff Ron Kalanquin and remains in the Lapeer County jail. He previously spent time in prison for being caught with cocaine and selling cocaine and is on parole.
