While everyone is still debating whether or not Ben Affleck will make a good Batman in Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel 2,' which will feature a "Batman vs. Superman" element, we can tell you who was almost cast: Josh Brolin, who confirms that he was considered for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming sequel. Obviously, it didn't work out, but Brolin doesn't have any hard feelings about it.

In a recent interview with The Huffington Post, Josh Brolin confirmed that he was almost cast as Batman in 'Man of Steel 2.' When asked if he spoke to Snyder about playing the role, Brolin said:

We did. I didn't have conversations about it, but Zack, that was part of his idea. It just didn't turn out. It's OK. It is OK. You know, another scenario might have worked better, but I'm happy for Ben.

We know the internet community has been responding pretty aggressively to the casting news (both positive and negative), but what does Brolin think about Affleck's casting?

I've never seen such a global reaction in my life, I feel for him, truly. I would not want to be him right now. The reaction becomes so personal. It's like, 'F*ck this guy, I wish he was dead.' And you're like, 'What? Dude, seriously? This guy is just working like you are. He's doing the same thing you are. He's trying to make the best choices he can...' I want him to kick ass and I want everyone to love it and kind of eat their words.

We have no doubt that Affleck's Batman will be solid, but Brolin was definitely one of the first actors who came to mind for an older Bruce Wayne/Batman -- especially since Snyder has said that the Batman plot in 'Man of Steel 2' is loosely based on Frank Miller's 'The Dark Knight Returns,' in which Batman is a bit older and more disgruntled. You think of "older and disgruntled," you think of Tommy Lee Jones, and when you think of a younger Tommy Lee Jones (and someone in the right age bracket for a Bruce Wayne who's a bit older), you think of Josh Brolin. Made sense to us, but we're still stoked about Affleck.
