This is quite the story out of Vancouver, Washington where a man put his hand into a wood chipper that was off at the time and then someone turns the chipper on. According to KATU TV and UPI, Frank Arce survived 10 seconds in the machine and stayed conscious the entire time. Frank told reporters that "Actually going through the machine itself wasn't the worst part about it, what was the worst part (was) the not knowing what was going to happen."

The machine’s spikes and claws pulled the man in when he was trying to retrieve something that had gotten stuck, and the somebody turned the chipper on.

Mr. Arce has a broken pelvis, shattered ankle, bruised liver, broken leg and a deep, body-length cut.

When I read this story it reminded of the movie “Fargo” and the wood chipper scene.
