Cops are often in the news for all the wrong reasons, but here's a piece of publicity that they can certainly use.

An Arizona man named Steven Hildreth Jr. -- who is African-American -- took to Facebook earlier this week to recount his encounter with police officers who stopped him for having a broken headlight. The man was carrying a gun, which the cops found.

This is usually the part of the story where you may expect things to go south and turn violent. But not in this case. In fact, everything appears to have gone by the book, a fact Hildreth truly appreciated.

His post certainly struck a chord -- it's been shared more than 260,000 times, while closing in on half a million likes.

It's another reminder that, yes, police officers are also people with emotions like everyone else.
