Marc Bolan Looking For Freaky Lead Guitarist & Astral Flyers

An ad reading “Freaky lead guitarist, bass guitarist and drummer wanted for Marc Bolan’s new group. Also any other astral flyers like with cars, amplification and that which never grows in window boxes” appeared in Melody Maker forty eight years ago this week. Marc Bolan was looking for some band mates. Ben Cartland and Steve Took answered. A year later psychedelic folk band, Tyrannosaurus Rex aka T. Rex, would release their first album titled “My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair. . . But Now They’re Content to Wear Stars On Their Brows.”
